Tale
A modern day story about making a living in the world of West Texas oil rigs
See the most popular movies and TV shows by writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user ratings.. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners.
They are also part Fixer, Problem Solver, and Facilitator, as well
Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, worker housing (camp people), oversee the assembly of excavation machinery, and the drilling of the site itself, especially in remote locations.
The main story so far is engaging and captivating without being too over the top
Landman is my first Taylor Sheridan series, so I don’t have the expectations that seem to come from being a Yellowstone fan. There are a few subplots that play out well throughout the episodes, but perhaps one of them compromises the overall quality of the show.
I’m sure you’ll figure out which one!
The visual production is noteworthy; the direction and environment creation is enjoyable. It would be interesting to get the opinion of people who work in the industry on how realistic the field scenes are.
The cast fleshes out their characters well
Billy Bob Thornton is exemplary and really drives the show well. Overall, a very good series, visually well executed and superbly acted.
