I hated the first episode
Blake, the acronym "OBE" is incorrectly explained as “Overtaken By Events.” In US government agencies, including those within the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense, the correct/official explanation of the acronym “OBE”; is “Overtaken Events.” The opening features the characters and scenes from the series mixed together with mirrored glasses. Former CIA Counterintelligence Director James Jesus Angleton, aka the “spy poet,” described the intelligence game as “The Wilderness of Mirrors,” a phrase taken from a poem by T.S. Eliot called Gerontion (the title means “old” in Greek, and the poem is an internal monologue about the opinions and impressions of an old man, describing Europe after World War I through the eyes of someone who lived most of his life in the 19th century). In the world of intelligence, in pursuit of truth, it becomes difficult to distinguish between reality and its reflection — an illusion, if you will, as if we were in a “hall of mirrors.” The Graham Norton Show: Cher/Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender/Josh Brolin/Jalen Ngonda (2024).
Dialogue and co-production
It was polished and predictable. It almost feels like they fired the entire writing room and hired a new crew for episode 2. Series 1 had major technical flaws in terms of the technology used. Episode 2 was very well done in terms of pacing.
The writing and script is everything
I understand some of the previous criticisms with low scores… BUT if they continue with the over the top dialogue from episode 1 and continue to drop the formula into a smooth delivery. Which can be so hard to stomach, this could be a truly outstanding production, especially with the talent that has come on board for this production. Hopefully they iron out the first few wrinkles and it will be something wonderful. SHOW.
