Life is not spoiled for the capricious stove-maker Agniya: she lives in the Far North in a dilapidated, poorly heated house, fishes from an ice hole and raises her son alone. Seasonal work does not allow her to save up for a new home, and the head of the local administration, Boris, is in no hurry to resettle people. After agreeing to Boris’s proposal to build a stove in her house, Boris tells her not to rush to install it.
