This year’s holiday-themed romantic movies can be watched from the comfort of your home
Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family are in the running to win the team’s Fan of the Year contest in a process judged by Fan Engagement Director Derrick Higman. The movie was filmed at historic Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which really does look like this year-round. The locations that served as the Higman family store and Norma and Nick’s barbecue restaurant are also family-owned stores in real life.
This story was so sweet and funny
Square also does Christmas lighting like the one in the movie. This movie was a pure, funny, heartwarming delight, and I’m still smiling. It was a lovely love story and a Christmas movie.
This movie was exactly what I needed in my life right now — a sweet holiday getaway
It spoke to me as a romantic comedy lover, but also as a sports fan who loves the thrill of rooting for my teams — both my own team and my newly adopted team. Go bosses! I really liked Derrick’s story too, as he was lonely and adrift and maybe a little devoid of a full, tradition-filled home life, and this warm, welcoming, colorful family really appealed to him.
And there was such believable chemistry between these two characters
The writing was exquisite and sweet, gently and skillfully eliciting some unexpected tears, delighted laughter, and the occasional audible “awwww” from my lips. Hunter King and Tyler Hynes’ performances were impeccable, genuine, and funny, and we could feel so much energy and connection from both of them as they brought their characters to life. This movie was also beautifully enhanced by the supporting cast, who really brought depth and color to this beautiful story.
