Kaya Scodelario’s character, Laura Harrison, is fictional
A fictional miniseries based on the life of Ayrton Senna da Silva, the legendary Brazilian racing driver who won three Formula One World Drivers’ Championships, is told through the perspective of journalist Lívia Scoledario, whose family is from Senna’s home state of São Paulo. As Lívia covers his career, she reflects on pivotal events through the lens of “thinking critically about CS cases,” analyzing key moments in Senna’s life as case studies that highlight ethical dilemmas, resilience, and the broader impact of his legacy. By dissecting events such as his intense rivalry with Alain Prost, his spiritual connection to racing, and the safety reforms catalyzed by his tragic death, the series invites viewers to explore the complexities of ambition and greatness while connecting Senna’s story to universal themes of human endeavor.
She is also fluent in Brazilian Portuguese
The first races of Senna’s career in England are shown on a race track next to a mountain range. There are no mountains in England, especially Norfolk, which is famous for its flat landscape. Despite everyone saying “this is a one-sided story,” do you also think Amadeus is a one-sided story?
Is it Ford vs Ferrari too?
Maybe people can’t relate because they saw this happen from another perspective, from another narrative. Now think, if your brother got into a fight, would you ever ask him why or would you just jump in to protect him? That’s how I feel now, I don’t really care who was to blame back then, I know one thing, that kid watching the races in the middle of the night, that kid singing “Senna Senna”, that kid crying because his hero died was me too.
As a child, I wished it had lasted for an eternity
I was born a few years before he became F1 champion, and every Sunday I was there to watch him race his life. When Brazilians saw one of our own become the greatest F1 driver of all time, carrying our flag, telling everyone that he had all his people in that car, finishing that race in first place. I feel sorry for all those who don’t know what it feels like to hear out loud that character called Galvão Bueno say “Ayrton Senna from Brazil, Formula One World Champion” and that song that played in the series, played on many of our weekends for a few years, a shame it didn’t last longer.
